14-54 was born in Towada back in 2017, transforming a once-abandoned bookstore into a vibrant "third place" in the community. Over the years, it has grown into much more than a café, housing initiatives like the 14-54 Cafe—an entrepreneurial incubator and launchpad—and the Towada Art Center’s Machinaka Library. It has become a hub for civic activities and events, shaping the local cultural landscape.
During the pandemic, in 2021, we expanded our kitchen sharing program and introduced 14-54 Pizzeria, serving authentic Neapolitan pizza with a Japanese twist. In 2023, we took things further, opening YADO by 14-54, a private guesthouse that now welcomes visitors from across Japan and beyond.
At its core, 14-54 is designed to be a space that is open to the city, with a vision to become a place to:
⚲ Converge in a place where everyone feels welcome
☌ Connect people with each other and with diverse experiences
⚮ Contribute to the local community and culture
Now, as we step into 2025, we're gearing up for an even greater transformation.
This renovation marks the next step in realizing our vision, making 14-54 an even more dynamic and inclusive space.
What’s coming next? Stay connected through our website and social media for updates on the renovation process and upcoming projects.
As the snow melts, we’ll be ready to share exciting news with you.
Until then, we’ll be working tirelessly behind the scenes—hibernating, but definitely not asleep!
Thank you for your continued support.
